Charlotte Wardlaw opened the scoring for Newcastle after 12 minutes, converting a rebound for her first goal for the club. Leicester had spells of possession but failed to seriously test goalkeeper Anna Tamminen. The game was decided in a three-minute spell after the hour mark, as Martha Thomas scored twice. Her first was a glancing header from a Jordan Nobbs cross, and her second came after a stunning through ball from Beth Lumsden. Aoife Mannion added a fourth in added time, reacting quickest to a bouncing ball to loop it over goalkeeper Katie Keane.
Jessie Gale made her debut for Leicester as a substitute in the 82nd minute. The team's recent form now reads three wins and two defeats from their last five matches. They have collected six points from their opening four fixtures of the season.
